Victoria University Dictum Society
A Law Society located at the heart of legal precinct, assisting law students with Education, Networking and Career pathways.
Dictum Society was established in 2012, and has successfully engaged and serviced a wide variety of external and internal stakeholders in this short time. We are a Society which aims to represent the diverse aspirations and attributes amongst our law students and improve their university experience. We achieve this by hosting a combination of initiatives and events, ranging from careers, competitions, social events and education programs.
Dictum Society also operates as a bridge between law students and Victoria University’s College of Law and Justice.
Educational Events
Events that assist you in your academic progress and will push you to achieve the best you could during your time in University
Educational Events are programs or initiatives such as Peer-to-peer Mentoring Program, Legal Writing and Drafting workshops, Moots, Speech Master, Exam Prep and many more are essential events for the students. Students are able to improve their advocacy skills and gain in-depth knowledge of the subjects from senior level students.
Career Events
Career pathways are important for students to understand the opportunities out there. Graduating from Bachelors of Laws will not only create a pathway towards being a lawyer, but also open doors to other opportunities.
Dictum Society has consistently provided quality Careers Guide since 2015. The Careers Guides have given an extensive amount of help to our members with the input of representative from various companies in the legal industry. The Guides have also assisted students continuously on the expectations and requirements of the workplace.
Dictum Society has also provided essential Career Events such as PLT Panel and Careers Fair. This allowed our members to speak to each representative of the company face to face and connect with them about the environment of the workplace and their expectations.
Social Events
Networking amongst students and graduates will allow all Dictum members both VIP and Regular to expand their circle within the legal scope.
Social and networking events will provide possible career opportunities and deeper understanding about the legal industry that students will face after graduating. These events give students the chance to develop more meaningful relationships both professional and casual within their university. Dictum has created events such as Trivia Night at the Pub, Law Ball, Networking Mixers and more.
